Vision
To ensure all Kansas caregivers will have the respite services they need in order to have the strength to care for their loved ones.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Kansas Lifespan Respite Coalition is to promote access to and use of respite for all Kansas caregivers, through community awareness, advocacy, eduation, and collaboration by providing a statewide respite care system.
What is Lifespan Respite Care?
Lifespan respite care provides temporary relief for caregivers from the on-going responsibility of caring for an individual of any age with special needs. This service will allow caregivers a short-term rest or an opportunity to pursue other needs.
Who Can Access Lifespan Respite Programs?
Caregivers who are family members, foster parents, or other adults providing care for an adult or child with special needs may access these programs. An adult with special needs is defined broadly as a person 18 years of age or older who requires care or supervision to meet the person's basic needs, to prevent physical self-injury or injury to others, or to avoid placement in an institutional facility. A child with special needs is a person less than 18 years of age who requires care or supervision beyond that required of children generally to meet the child's basic needs or prevent physical self-injury or injury to others.
